Reclaiming Language to Reclaim the Practice of Medicine

Dr. Sunita Puri will explore how thinking of language as a tool, and communication as a procedure, can improve the approach to family meetings to discuss subjects ranging from breaking difficult news to discussing end-of-life care. She will draw upon both medical literature and fiction/nonfiction to illustrate helpful and unhelpful approaches to having high-stakes discussions with patients, families and colleagues.
